ABOUT
I am Ella Wilshire and I live in the Bay Area. I go to high school in the Presidio in San Francisco. Usually my afternoons are pretty packed with cross country, soccer or lacrosse. My very busy high school life came to a halt during the pandemic. Online classes, Netflix, baking tons, social distance hiking, Face Timing with friends became my new reality. I also found time to work on projects that give back to my community.
The idea for Small Batch Goods for Good came from making masks for donation during the Covid-19 virus. During the shelter in place my mom and I worked on sewing masks for friends in exchange for a donation to a local organization called Conscious Kitchen. We also donated masks to frontline workers at no cost. My sewing skills are pretty limited so my job was to make the straps for the mask. One afternoon we ran out of white thread so my mom gave me a few spools of neon colors. As I was sewing the straps I began to think that they were pretty cool looking. I wrapped one around my wrist with a bead and gave it a simple tie.
One of my goals is to use sustainable and upcycled materials for my bracelets. Sustainability is very important to me. I believe my generation has the power to impact the world through choices. For more on sustainability please visit SUSTAIN+ABLE section of my site.
